Wood Species & Finishes

For our frames, we use raw glued laminated timber of the highest quality, sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests.

Glued laminated timber is a composite material made of natural wood; it retains the advantages of solid wood, such as a high mechanical strength-to-weight ratio, while reducing its inherent defects. The profile section is symmetrical, and the external laminations, which have the same thickness and belong to the same wood species, show no significant differences compared to the wood's structure.

Wood species: Pine

Pine

Pine is one of the most widely used species for wooden frames. It is a soft yet stable wood, resistant to bending and durable over time. Light in color, with a coarse grain and natural knots, it adapts perfectly to rustic or traditional contexts.

Available in both full-length lamellas, which enhances the natural grain and is perfect for transparent finishes, and the finger-jointed version, which is particularly suitable for lacquers in modern, uniform tones, it lends itself versatilely to various styles, from classic to contemporary.

Wood species: Red Grandis

Red Grandis

Red Grandis is a hardwood, cultivated exclusively in certified plantations in Uruguay according to sustainable criteria. It represents an ecological and responsible alternative to tropical wood, thanks to forest management that protects the land and ensures its regeneration over time. It stands out for its uniform pink tones, homogeneous grain, ease of processing, and high durability and stability over time.

It is 100% FSC® certified, making it ideal for high-quality modern frames that combine aesthetics and respect for the environment.

Wood species: Oak

Oak

Oak is a noble wood species, particularly valued for its ability to resist weathering, wear, and intense stress.

Yellowish tending to brown in color, it is distinguished by streaked grains and amber hues that give it a refined aesthetic, capable of enhancing any environment.

It offers excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, guarantees flexibility and long-term durability, and represents a premium choice for those seeking high performance and timeless aesthetics.

Wood species: Larch

Larch

Larch is a hard, resinous wood that is stable and resistant to atmospheric agents, making it ideal for long-lasting wooden frames. It has good insulating properties, excellent moisture resistance, and a low tendency to deform.

Its color ranges from yellow to pink, with pronounced grain that gives it a warm and natural appearance. It requires careful processing but guarantees durability and aesthetic appeal, adapting perfectly to rustic, natural, or country styles.

The Wood Painting
Process

The painting process is a fundamental phase that contributes significantly to the product's aesthetics and durability.

FAS Serramenti uses water-based paints which, containing a maximum of 10% chemical solvents, minimize the emission of harmful substances. Furthermore, the water-based paint adheres perfectly to the surface, creating an elastic film capable of following the wood's micro-movements. For its frames,

FAS Serramenti applies a painting cycle consisting of three coats: one coat of stain/primer, one coat of base coat, and one coat of topcoat.

Available Finishes

Each wood species can be customized with matt finishes, brushed effect treatments, and a wide range of colors, to adapt perfectly to the style of any environment, enhancing it with elegance.
